Why does your nose get runny when its cold

Answer:

"... Mucus produced by the nose fights infection, humidifies air to moisten the nasal membranes and traps foreign matter so it's not inhaled into the lungs. In fact, the nose produces between one and two quarts of mucus a day, which we normally swallow unconsciously.

...And you may have noticed that your nose runs more when you're exposed to cold temperatures. The air in your nose is warmer than the outside air and a steam-like affect happens inside your nose. Water drops condense, mix with mucus and run out your nose."

in order to get rid of all the viral pathogens that were trapped in ur cillia.

or to get rid of dust.

or to just keep the inside of ur nose moist. (i guess to prevent nose bleeds...)

so my advice is to not sniff it up cuz it will not help u in getting rid of a cold! LOL!

Your nose liner is made up of mucus membranes. When it's cold your nose runs to keep the inside moist.
