Why do women have a higher life expextancy than men
Between ages 15 and 24 years, men are four to five times more likely to die than women. This time frame coincides with the onset of puberty and an increase in reckless and violent behavior in males.
It evens up in middle age.
In the 55- to 64-year-old range, more men than women die, due mainly to heart disease, suicide, car accidents, and illnesses related to smoking and alcohol use.
Biologically, testosterone not only increases aggressive and competitive behavior in young men, it increases levels of harmful cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein), raising a male's chances of getting heart disease or stroke.
The female hormone estrogen lowers harmful cholesterol and raises "good" cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein). Emerging evidence suggests estrogen treatment after menopause reduces the risk of dying from heart disease and stroke, as well as of dying in general.
I don't know the scientific reason, but I think it's because women take better care of themselves nutritionally and deal with stress better. Maybe it's the testosterone; men can be so aggresive and fly off the handle easier. I don't think that's condusive to a healthy, long life.
i think it has to do with the biological factors. plus men in general work hardar than woman
I think the reason why women live longer is because we tend to take better care of ourselves. We also go to the doctor more often so we catch things a lot sooner then men.
its not that we live longer naturally its just the fact that we dont do as many stupid things as guys...
