Perhaps it's the faculties and administrators within each school that complain; however, the overall school board within each district may not be doing anything about providing better meals for the kids.

As most people, I'm all for a healthier diet in our schools. If school districts are worried about increase in costs for better food, they should start by NOT OFFERING the junk food and sodas they already do. Then they could use the funds they save to buy better lunches.

Even if they're still worried about cost, it's probably more expensive in the future since these kids will develop health problems that will increase health costs and insurance. Why people can't wrap their brains around proactive measures and the consequences of bad action is beyond me.

The other thing we need to do is have at least a full period of gym time. In some school districts, kids have gym class only a couple of times a week. Our society has gotten lazier and lazier, and we're going to pay for it.

I agree with you and I am dealing with this concerning my child. She only has gym 3 days a week and the menu is not healthy at all. I've taken it on myself to start counting her calories and sending her lunch to school so I know she is eating healthy. I also am having her spend 15 min. before school exercising and 15 min. in the afternoon after school.

dude thats what i wanna know....im in school and they give us food thats welll nasty....like it has to be "healthy" but why cant it be good?????uhhh stupid ppl....if the childs parent dosent care if they get fat....y should thu schools try to chande this???

It's not the schools, it's the insurace companies. It cost them a lot of extra $$ for fat people.
