why do people have 2 butt cheeks instead of one?
Answer:Well....we have two separate muscles that run from our lower back to the top of the legs...that is the physical reason...I guess it makes movement easier...each legs connected can have more independent movement....plus we need to spread the cheeks to make poopie...one cheek would also make our pants fit funny.
Because if they had only one, they'd have no ar5e
you have to have something to sit on on cheek would not support the rest of your body
you have two feet, two legs, two knees, two hips, thus two butt cheeks.

Maybe for balance as we have 2 arms and legs ...

Seriously, your butt is actually the very top of your legs, not just extra mass without use. Humans just tend to pack on extra fat in this area because we use it as a seat. Other animals rarely do. And since you have two legs, it makes sense to have two sides, right? Can you imagine trying to walk with your cheeks glued together? And you thought it looked funny when someone is running to the bathroom with them squeezed together...hehehehe
