is it dangerous for them to be exposed in laser or the microkeratome is dangerous for them
Answer:it isnt a case of the laser it is because your eyes dont stop changing for a long time....I am 19 years old and my vision still gets worse every year. In order to get lasik your eyes have to be, i guess you can say, finished developing....which usually doesnt occur until you are about mid 20s or later...but it also depends on the person.
because your eyes are not fully developed you cant have it till you are 13
their eyes could still be changing and developing. i grew out of glasses, so the 3k i could have spent on lasik(which wasnt actually around back then) wouldve been a waste.and maybe it wouldve damaged my eyes in the long run
It is the fact that their eyes have not stopped changing shape yet from growing. A child could get lasik but it would only improve their vision for a short time and thus be pointless.
Because Kid's eyes are still maturing, so if lasik is performed, and the eyes continue to change, there can be some serious trouble, because lasik can't be reversed. Besides, a more effective way to fix your eye, is to get crystal lenses. those are placed INSIDE your eye and can be taken out and changed whenever, or they can be replaced. =D
Because your eyes are not finished changing and developing until your like 20. You could have it done at 16 then 3 years later they could be changed. That's why you have to wait to do lasik. I had an eye disease so I've had about every test known to man in 3 different states done to my eyes, so I'm a wealth of information when it comes to eyes. :)
I was recommended to get lasik after 21 because that's when my vision would degrade less rapidly. Personally, I don't think 21 is old enough. The amount of reading and starting at computer screens accumulated in college has made my vision 100 degrees worse, so far.
Perhaps waiting until your child graduates college would be better for your wallet
Because their eyes and eyesight are still changing. Lasik is for people whose eyesight have stabilized and don't frequently change prescriptions for their glasses. I've had it - but I was an adult.
In order to do any sort of "permanant" type surgery, the developing part must be fully developed, otherwise as it developes it could cause more problems. Plus, as children develope, they grow out of a lot of stuff.
