Why am i getting heartburn im only 18
for the past 2 days i've been getting constant and bad hearburn/reflux.. i've never really had it before. in fact i didn't know what it was until i asked and looked it up and it def feels like what i've heard. it hasn't really subsided since it started. am i not too young to get heartburn for serious problems?? any reasons why i'd get it? i haven't changed my diet or anything like that at all.
Answer:The number one cause of heartburn of this nature (because any obvious bad dietary habits) is eatting before going to sleep, or laying down after eating or drinking. Pizza, soda, spicy foods are all notorious for making heartburn problems worse, especially at night. Overeating (as in, eating too much in one sitting) has the same effect.
I know girls have trouble with heartburn if they just become pregnant or have an ulcer. Sure enough, my son's girlfriend got heartburn suddenly and found out it was an ulcer and my daughter's friend got heartburn suddenly and found out she was pregnant. The ulcer was probably due to stress and anxiety from some abuse and neglect that she had to take for years. (No, my son had nothing to do with that, she was like that when he met her recently). Both girls are 17.
If all of this seems unlikely, then still check for an ulcer because many things can cause them, you anything that can stress you out (you have to look at things from an overall view, for instance, if something stresses you out a little, but over a long period of time).
Your diet probably isnt that good. lay off fast foods or foods with lots of fat and greese
Are you worrying a lot? If so you may have an ulcer. This happened to me. Try pepcid AC it really helps. If it continues see a doctor.
Honey, age doesn't matter. Are you eating to fast, or too much, or to spicy? Personally, I have never been able to eat spicy food, it gives me heartburn......
Heartburn does not care how old you are any one any age can get it. If it does not go away soon you should go see your MD.
Age has nothing to do with it, unfortunately.
