Which do you prefer contacts or glasses

health advisory Hospital Health advisory 2007-11-16 5:19:25

I need to have either one of these methods to enhance my vision. However, I am unsure which one should I use. Also normally how much is an eye exam?

Answer:

I have bad astigmatism in one eye, and therefore cannot wear contacts as a result, so I am told by the opthometrist. I have worn glasses since grade 9 (I am 21 now) and don't seem to mind them. I have one pair that are rimless and another pair with silver frames.

I am not sure as to where you live, but where I live an exam is roughly $60. Most insurance plans cover at least 50% of the cost, which helps. Also, Walmart has a great deal for glasses and they can fit you with contacts there, if you prefer. You can do a trial period with contacts for around $25 (this includes fitting and testing your particular eye strength, as well as one pair of contacts.) Also, keep in mind that some insurance companies have a limit as to how much they will cover - ie: $200 max.

Also, if your eyes have two different prescription strengths, you are looking at a greater cost for contacts and thus glasses might be more practical.

They are both good, but I prefer glasses.
I really like not wearing glasses but my contacts get fogged up whenever i stay up late at night. glasses just seem clearer to me and don't bother my eyes at much.
I prefer glasses, but I've worn them for so long. I tried out contacts but didn't like the way I looked in them or the way they felt. (I did successfully wear contacts many years ago as a teenager)
