What to do about a hurting back

No, I'm not old... *laughs* Just shy of 20 years old.

I've been spelunking (i.e., caving) the past few days and now my main problem is a *really* sore back.

Any effective means to go about easing the pain? Any advice would be appreciated. :)

Answer:

Sounds muscular, but I'd need more info to be sure. If you had a defining moment of "oh my gosh, I just did something to my back," then see a doc very soon. If it is just muscular, and nothing you can't handle, then ibuprofen is a good anti-inflammatory medication for sore muscles. A heating pad for 10-15 minutes once per hour will help loosen things up. Tylenol can be used for breakthrough pain. 800mg of ibuprofen every 8 hours is what I usually recommend. However, not everyone can take ibuprofen (advil), so ask your doc if you aren't sure.

If the pain is too bad, your doc will want to examine you. Muscle relaxers may be needed, or it may not be muscular. If you are worried, then I'd get an appointment. Oh yeah: rest your back for a few days. Best of luck.

The only product I use for my back (and other) muscle aches is called Alleviate. There are no side effects from using this product and better still - it works!
