Hypochondria is often associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety, and can also be brought on by stress. It is distinct from factitious disorders and malingering, in which an individual intentionally fakes, exaggerates, or induces mental or physical illnesses.
A hypochondricis a person that has the unfounded belief that he/she is suffering from a serious illness. Hypochondria is often associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety. Hypochondria can also be brought on by stress.
btw, there is a programme on channel 4 about this on thrusday, i believe.
A person who is always thinking that they are sick or wondering if they will become sick. It's a person who worries excessively about their health.
A hypochondriac is a person who feels that there is always something wrong with them. Normal people sometimes feel pain, whether its because they overworked something or whatever, that is no big deal to them. Hypochondriacs always make everything a big deal. They need medical (psychiatric) help to attempt to control the way they deal with their situations.
Someone who thinks there sick all the time.
someone who often worries and thinks there's something wrong with their health
someone with imaginary illness: somebody who is excessively preoccupied with health and persistently believes that he or she is ill or in danger of becoming ill
A person who thinks he/she is often sick, or has a medical problem when nothing is wrong.
Someone who thinks they are sick all the time, when they aren't really. They obsess about their latest illness and usually if someone around them complains of symptons, then they are the very next one to mysteriously come down with the exact same symptoms.
I have this, and it's definently not a cry for attention. It's a real disorder. It's basically a type of anxiety called Health Anxiety. You feel a symptom (usually related to Anxiety like rapid heart beat) and you suddenly think the worst. You fear having all kinds of diseases and illnesses. You never make up the symptoms, but when you think about them constantly, most of the time you will start to actually feel them. It's really hard to deal with. a hypochondriac is a person who believes there is something physically wrong with them, and are in constant pain, although there is nothing physically wrong with them. they tend to go to many doctors to get help with their pain. the pain they feel is very real for them, and they suffer just as much as people who have pain from a physical condition. it is not attention seeking, or imaginary, they suffer the same. it is a specific mental illness, and is not their fault.
