The pills are of very little help. Sometimes, I think they may be just making me more passive and lethargic. Besides taking antidepressants, what else can I do that will boost my moods and make me feel good about myself again?

Answer:

You are lucky if that's all they do! I went through hell on antidepressants.Anyways, I told my doctor and he would just up my dosages and tell me to see a psychologist, which I did, but the guy was annoying and not really that bright so... What did I do? Decided being depressed was better than being depressed and on antidepressants. Quit the medication. Skipped my next appointment with the psychiatrist and never saw him again. Waited it out, because my depressions never last longer than oh, 6 months. You can try seeing a psychologist, exercise, eating properly, quitting smoking, drinking or any other recreational drugs and of course ignoring your depression. Psychiatrists are idiots and that medication is crap for a lot of people.

You really shouldn't take the antidepressants without further help with the underlying reason for the depression. Did your Dr. offer to hook you up with a counseling situation? I can't stand when a Dr. gives the med and nothing else.
Eat good healthy food......take up exercise.....wear bright colours.....get plenty of fresh air.......and do things that will make you laugh , love life and meet new people.
