Yes, prozac and many other antidepressants can and probably will make you gain weight.
Yes it can make you gain weight. In fact, any of the medications in the same family as Prozac can make you gain weight, such as Paxil and Zoloft. You should ask your Doctor about possibly lowering your dose of Prozac or they may have to add something like Wellbutrin to help level out your other chemical levels. Sometimes the serotonin level (which is what Prozac helps make normal) becomes too high if you are taking a high dose.
Prozac does not make you lose weight. The side effects that Prozac has that are the most common are loss of appetite and loss of sex drive. so if anything, if you have not been using it for more than a month (it takes about 6 weeks to fully kick in) then gaining weight could just be a side effect of your depression.
