Is there such a thing as post-New York City depression
I lived in New York for 4 months and it was the most amazing time of my life. I am now living back in LA and I find myself in a depression that is caused by the fact that LA just doesn't compare to the many unique and wonderful traits of New York City. No pizza at 1am, no subways, and an absence of the overall love for the city that all New Yorkers seem to have. I can only call it "Post-New York City Depression" because this feeling is heavily influenced by me being back in LA again, and not being around the people and living in the amazing town that is New York.
Answer:It's called post-vacation depression.
Your 4 months in new york; I can bet, weren't spent working 9-5; 6 days a week.
Anyplace you got to for a little while; to relax and vacation in; or even to do light work in; cannot be compared to the place where you live, have family, and do actual work in. You will more than likely miss it, miss the relaxation it brings, etc.
I actually know a few people that went to New York for a bit and refused to leave & decided to find new jobs & dwellings in New York. I also know a few native New Yorkers who wouldn't leave the city if you paid them a billion dollers.
Some people like the isolation urban life brings. The freedom within the isolation (it drives other people crazy). New York, you have to admit, is the busiest ; that is also the most accessible (trains/buses galore!) in the world (or at least it use to be). It's culturally divers; and barely ever sleeps (pizza at 1 am.. manicure at 3 am..) Driving down Broadway at 5 am you can be sure to find most shops open (they pay so much rent that they might as well keep it open all night!), Your local Pathmark is open 24/7.
