Answer:1. Private counseling/therapy
2. Phamaceutical therapies ( Disulfiram)
3. Rehab programs
4. Salvation Army programs (religious but effective)
5. Self-isolation/ impossible to overcome separation from ETOH access. ( ex. Alaskan island X 2 months.)
6. Self-Determination.
Do you belong to a church? I know my church has a special class for those who are seeking deliverance of a chemical dependency. I wish you the best.
God, believe me, He is the way, I know many people, including my grandparents, who were alcoholics, He changes your life. Please, try church, it really works, but what works even better is to pray to him, anytime you want a drink, or want to do something foolish, pray.
Have you tried different meetings? such as Step Studies? Do you read and STUDY the basic textbooks like the Big Book and the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions? Do you have a sponsor? Do you try to help others?
I belong to a different 12 step group and know how tough compulsions are. And so the recovery must be tough as well. Try to go with an open mind and ASK for help. Don't be shy and don't let ego get in the way. We're all there for the same reasons - we have a problem and need a solution.
Good luck to you.
Like Shadow said, prey, what else do ya got to loose. There is alot of power in preyers.
go back to the meeting and work your steps and get a sponsor and start praying, its the only way out.
