Is there anyone out there who has been diagnosed with manic depression
When I was off my meds my mind raced all the time and I couldn't concentrate. I had many days when I just wanted to sleep (but couldn't) just to get away from it all. With the right therapy and medications I was fully functional again after about 3 months. I was on that "cocktail" of meds for a little over two years.
Now I am off my meds, with my doctors approval and doing just fine. I still have prescriptions for Seroquel and Lexapro for as needed. But I am happy to say that I haven't needed them. A lot of what helped me overcome my depression was a supporting family and a doctor who knew what she was doing. I also made some significant life changes with the help of therapy and family and friends.
I know the risks I have of becomming manic again but feel that the changes I've made and the knowledge of what to look for and where to go for help if I need it are powerful tools.
I know that I am a rare exception by being off medications completely but it can happen.
Good luck.
