Looking for an in-patient or out-patient program to help manage anxiety and avert a potential nervous breakdown. Feeling is that getting away and focused on help for a few days will help. Looking for someplace in the NJ, NY, CT, PA, VT, MA area.
Answer:I'm from Pittsburgh, and I've known a few people who went to Western Psychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. It is run by the people of UPMC, one of the biggest hospitals in the country, and the staff is very receptive and supportive. I hope this helps you, and to be honest, I hope it doesn't come to this for you. Good luck.
I am certain there is somehelp out there for you in the states you mentioned. Look in your phone book, or call your doctor and ask for a referral to a mental health clinic or psychiatrist. Your doctor also might be able to help with some of the new medications out there that are readily available. Also, think about going through some analysis to find out what is behind this sense of nervous breakdown....remember, for every symptom, there is a cause.
Depending on where you live, your local hospital's psychiatric dept. might be able to help you out. I'd call and explain the situation, and see if they can help. You might have to go to a bigger hospital, but if you anticipate a nervous breakdown, I think they'll get you the help you need.
If you feel like you are on the verge of a nervous breakdown, you can actually go to your family doctor or a walk-in clinic and get a refferal to someone in your area that can help.
