Is there a pattern that dementia/Alzheimer patients follow
I am sure each individual is different. But I am looking for what to expect as my Mother deteroriates.
Answer:Each alzheimer patient is different.
1. Confusion-the patient is confused
2. memory loss
3. dreams- the patient thinks the dreams they have are real.
4. No name reconization
5 deppresion-the patient is sometimes deppresed
6. Swallow-in some cases the patient forgets how to swallow
7. hunger/thirst- the patient is not hungry or thirsty on their own anymore.
Their is a lot of good medicine to slow down the process
my grandma has alzheimers and she was diangnosted it 8 years ago, the only real effect it has is she doesnt always talk a lot, and sometimes she is forgetful.
Another relative in my family was diagnosed 1 year ago and now she is tense, deppresed, and very forgettful/ confused.
There is still not a lot of information on alzheimers but the effects on different people vary.
Good luck!!!
Everyone seems to be different. I've been to support groups and talked to people online and it really seems to depend on what parts of the brain are most affected. The Alzheimer's Association has a list of the stages and what categorizes them, but it's very loose. Someone may have symptoms from 2 or 3 of the 7 stages at the same time.
Please find a local support group or one online. They really help. I have a blog you can read too about my dad.
