Is there a medication to prevent nervous breakdowns
I think what you might be asking is if there are good anti-anxiety medications and, yes, there are tons. Benzodiazepines (such as Klonopin, Xanax, Ativan and Valium), anti-depressants (especially SSRIs like Paxil and Zoloft), the atypical anti-depressant Buspar, and even an antihistamine (!!) [hydroxyzine] have been shown to have anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) properties.
What people typically have referred to as a "nervous breakdown" is now called "brief psychotic disorder" in the DSM-IV-R. I'd recommend reading the criteria for "brief psychotic disorder" to see if you're referring more to that or perhaps the stress of an anxiety disorder (or just anxiety in general).
All medical doctors can prescribe anti-anxiety drugs, though a psychiatrist would be the "expert" in the field. You can talk with anyone from a family doctor to a psychiatrist, though. Also, there is of course therapy that can help with anxiety disorders. Often, therapy combined with pharmacological (drug) treatment has the most success.
Find a medical professional that you feel comfortable talking to -- there's lots of options, both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical (and the combination).
Yes, with no side affects. Walking! take your traumatic event for a mile long walk and think of that event while walking with bilateral movements.
i donot know about any medicine but yes yoga does halp in getting contol over it
A nervous breakdown is a very unofficial term used very loosely, it depends on what you mean by nervous breakdown? Very hard to answer without more a more specific desripction as you could be talking about anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia.. ??
An antidepressant, like Zoloft, might work wonders.
My psychologist gives me lexapro, you can take about 2 or 3 tablets a day depending on how quickly you lash out in nervous break downs, and then keep reducing the amount until you feel you're alright. Basically it helps balance the chemicals in your brain so you can think more clearly without reverting to crying and emotions, until you even feel good about yourself 鈾櫋鈾?
