Is there a genetic component to faith
People really don't generally think about it because we have "faith" that these are two thing we just accept to be, there is also the reality we DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE anything will happen to us. The same goes for Chistianity and the belief in Christ. Those within the the "Christian" churches know that Christ died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, it's up to an individual person to accept that forgiveness, God does not force it on anyone. No one can save you except for Christ, It's a matter of FAITH and BELIEF that Christ has died for us as sinners, comming before him in acknowledgement and ask him to forgive you and come into your life only then do we have salvation and the assurence of heaven.
We can also choose to deny God and reject his salvation because we don't have faith and don't want to believe in what Christ has provided thats OK but the consequence is that we will end up in hell. It not God's fault we as individuals make that choice. What I believe turns people away from the church or christianity is, sometimes in eagerness to do the "right thing" our parents and family can cram religious beliefs down your throat to where we are turned off and sick of it. A lot of self imposed rules and strictness in and among the christian churches can turn people away from Christ. There are different churches to attend, we don't have to go to the same church we where brought up or raised in, it's where we as individules ultimitly feel the happiest, and receive the most spiritual growth. Remember Christ offered salvation free with no cost to us, no self imposed church rules all we have to do is have that faith and take his gift of salvation.
Sincerely
Alice H.
