Two young ladies who wished to commit suicide have tried this. And once they tried that, right before they were bounced back, their brains were shocked and reacted how valuable lives are and nurtured in the minds that all the problems are such a tiny/insignificant problem, not as tragic as they felt at the moment they were real close to death while doing the bungee jumping.
I don't know if "cured" is the right word. I have been seeing a psychologist for 9 years and a psychiatrist for meds, and I think I will always need that connection. I used to be on tons of meds and didn't know what I was doing. Now, I'm on 2. The secret of seeing a counselor is learning to trust that person and really talking about what bothers you. If you don't, you are only depriving yourself of a happier life. Good luck.
What about trying something different like alternative therapies. I have been trying this technique called Emotional Freedom Technique and it has really helped me a lot. I do feel a lot better since using it. It does sound bazaar, but does work. These are some links. I know what you mean about feeling miserable sometimes I wonder what the point in life is to and feel like there is nothing, but using that technique has helped a lot last year I had very bad anxiety depression and thought there was only way out. This year after using that technique I'm feeling happier and feeling like there is a point. I'm not quite there yet, but feeling better each day.
Try the other way, then! Method 1. Sit up straight in a comfortable chair, in a quiet, darkened room, and gaze at a burning candle. Focus all your attention on the feeling your breath makes at the point where it enters and leaves your body, as you breathe regularly, preferably through the nose,in and out, in and out, in and out ...................all thoughts noted and dismissed as being mere distractions, as you return to the process. Do this for 20 mins. daily, at least once, and preferably morning, afternoon and evening, also in times of adverse life events. 2. In your bedroom, after lights out, say to yourself in your mind: "easy, easy, easy, easy........................ " This can also be done in daytime, using any word or short phrase; some people can add the breathing method to it, with practice. Exercise vigorously for 30 - 60 mins daily. Eat healthily. Keep occupied. Consider Tai Chi and/or yoga as well.
