To get to know whether it is a depression or not, you may identify symptoms of depression that you might've been experiencing. Those symptoms are:

1. Prolonged period of sadness. Not feeling "up to it"

2. Feel hopeless. Feeling sorry for one's self.

3. Guilt-driven, loss of self-worth and helplessness.

4. Isn鈥檛 interested in finding or taking pleasure.

5. Fatigue, always tired.

6. Having trouble concentrating, having bad memory and is indecisive.

Once you can identify above mentioned symptoms, you can get further solution for your depression problem.


I worked shift work for many years. I know how it can screw things up. At first glance, you're not getting enough sleep. For example, if you get home a mid- and get up at 6AM, no wonder you're tired.

Don't worry about not seeing much of him weekdays,.

I worked shift work many years, seldom saw my wife during the week. So, we made up for it weekends, and didn't sweat the small stuff.

As a result, we're a few months away from our 40th anniversary.

I worked (recent job ) 2pm to 11PM. I did stuff around the house until 3 AM, went to bed, and woke up around 10 or 11. I shopped for groveries, etc. vacuumed, etc.. did this stuff during the week, so we didn't have to do it weekends.

I weighted the advantages of shift work, For example, schedule a dr appt for 1PM. I could just go, rather than shedule work around it.

Shift work can screw you up if you let it.


A good relationship is more important than a clean house. What shift does your husband work? If you can, try and work your quality time after you get off work. Obviously it takes you time to wind down, and you need your beauty sleep. You're not lazy sleeping in till noon if you didn't get to bed until four, and if you didn't get to bed until four because you and your husband watched movies and talked all night, what harm is there in that?
