My girlfriend is very intelligent when it comes to things that she learned in school but i am having a real problem with her when she has to think about things, we live together so i see this more than other people although i am not the only one that sees it , she has no common sense at all and it seems to get worse, lately it is so bad, it's like she can't even think on her own, the simplest of things that require her to think a little bit are out of the question. And she forgets things that she said 5 minutes prior but can remember things she did when she was 3 years old. In fact it is getting so bad that i am starting to worry about her and think she might need to see some kind of professional help anyone with any information that might have seeen this before please let me . Could it be a chemical imbalence in her brain or something? I dont know thats why i am here. Thanks

You are about to receive the opinion of a couple of professional nurses/ physicians:

It is remotely possible that she has an acute thyroid imbalance, acute problems managing stress, or possibly an organic brain disorder (like early Alzheimers). There is a chance that she could have a brain tumor if this is genuinely a memory problem that seems to be getting worse

We know of a woman whose primary complaint was poor memory and she is an advance practice nurse...she had a head CT and was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Don't think worse case scenario, but get her checked out by a physician. It could be nothing or you could be catching a future problem early.

It is more of a disability especially with highly intelligent people. Someone with a higher IQ really has to learn common sense. Luckily my mom taught us from a young age how to use common sense in life

She could either have a short term memory problem that she may want to see a professional about, or she could be very intelligent. Many genius type people are common sense stupid but very book smart.
