My friend was 14 when this happened,a short while afterward she also was registered as a depressive.

She now has a 12 year old daughter who recently has been registered as a depressive.

My friend thinks it runs through her family,especially the females in her family.

Her doctor has also confirmed depression is inherited

your family life has such an effect on you as a person sometimes people can accept their plight and get on with it while there are the unfortunate ones that find it harder to deal with then of course there are different types of depression my close friend suffers from depression she didnt inherit it genetically but her mum and birthdad sure screwed her up as a kid but sadly now she has a daughter who is only 13 and in and out of drs offices im no expert but i feel she is making her daughter depressed not purposly ofcourse but out children mimic us.

apparently so- according to genetics.

I personally dont believe this though. I think it is environmental in that you pick it up by learing about life and how ot live it from those closest around you such as your parents, if they hold a pessamistic or depressed view of life and the child learns this is the way to take on life, then yes, this in my book is how depression is passed throught the family.
