Bad days will never completely disappear. U need to accept that 1st, but days get better on meds. The **** is that depression does take a toll on ur body- whether its not eating, over eating, not movement of any kind, stop taking care of ur physical self.

Yes I am the refurbished dr. phil. keep up those pills. it can take those craps two-three months to have ur body react 2 meds

Depression can be social or it can be chemical or even a mix of the two. Research suggests that the main chemical reason is a lack of serotonin (the feel good hormone)in the brain causes depression, the reason the brain is not producing or underproducing it is not fully understood, ,but the lack of serotonin in the brain can lead to negative things having a greater effect on the depressed person. Its an illness that is so hard to understand until you have felt the pain yourself.
Depression is a chemical inbalance in the brain. I have had it for years, most days are good but I still have sad days. I have to take my antidepressant every morn. just a way of life to me
Obviously depression itself is not a physical condition because it stems from the mind. On the other hand, without a doubt plenty of people become depressed if they develop a physical disease which is seriously impacting the way they previously were able to live their lives.

You hint that your "body isn't working properly" but you don't say in what way. It's possible that part of your mental problems are causing you to believe your body is malfunctioning. Also, it's equally true that the mind/body interraction is very powerful, so that a seriously depressed mind can telegraph a message to the body and cause IT to develop problems also. Stomach problems, headaches, skin outbreaks, etc. etc. etc. You can definitely "think" yourself sick. Constant mental dysfunction can also have a direct effect on your body's immune system, reducing its protective abilities, and opening the door to body ailments that wouldn't otherwise have been able to take hold.
