Adderall is an amphetamine molecule (or the combination of 2 amphetamines, hence the "Add" part of the name).

There are 2 primary treatments for "true" ADHD (and by that I mean a clean diagnosis that conforms to the criteria, not just "I can't focus as well as I think I ought to be"). One is the amphetamine derivitives such as Dextroamphetamine and Adderall. The other is the methyphenidate line, such as Ritalin and Concerta. In "true ADHD" one or the other will work about 90% of the time.

Stratera is not as effective as the stimulants. It is more similar to the SSRI type of antidepressants such as Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa, Lexapro, ad nauseum. It may work better in people who have anxiety with inattention, but the treatment response in "true ADHD" is not as robust as is for the amphetamine/methylphenidate derivatives...

as a long time suffer of adhd I.m shour there is no stable way to deal with the odd fellings its a road of hell im taking methlenedate 20ml aday 1and am on constant up and downers i flip like no tommorrow and can feel the drugs hit and wear of to the piont were i get out of control with the thoughts that go on in my head i,m now 37 and think nothing helps proper its just learning to live with the condition i have found this pritty inpposible to do because of personality disorders the only time i feel ok is when getting involved with something ,i get so rapt up in projects that last about 3 week then bang lose intrest and start again how do you get through your nightmare open question ????

Yes. Adderall is a stimulant, whereas Strattera is a norepinephrine reputake inhibitor (not a stimulant). They're mechanisms of action, efficacy, and side effects are totally different.
