Info on help with bipolar six year old
I am trying to find something, like a web sight or just some info, to help my son's teacher. It seems like there is no help.Is there anyone else on this entire planet that is going through this with their child. six years old or younger.
Answer:My daughter was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 7. www.bpkids.org has some very good pamphlets you can download for free or order for very low cost, including some specially written for teachers. I recommend going ahead and ordering more than one, as they tend to not make it back into the permanent file. Also try www.bpchildren.com for friendly advice and books written for bipolar kids to help them and their friends and siblings understand what's going on. You can e-mail me if you want to; faburobin@yahoo.com. Good luck!
There is a great book written for help dealing with people with borderline personality which is very similar but not treatable with drugs. It is called Stop Walking on Eggshells. I would think a lot of the advice would be applicable.
There are alot of web sites offering information & support but I think this one is one of the best to get you started. Feel free to mail me if you would like a list of more.

First of all, I would get a second opinion about your son's condition. It is very hard to properly diagnose bipolar disorder in children that young. There are many other possibilites that could be causing your child's behavioral problems. If you are sure he has bipolar, there are support groups for bipolar familes. Doing a google search should help you find these. Also, NIH (national institute of health) or mentalhealthamerica.net are good websites and should offer more solutions. Good luck.
a child of six is still building its personality, and is having a hard enough time without you trying to name it. grow up.
