This is a very hard question to answer as it has a lot to do with yourself and your ability to change your own attitude. To gain one's confidence, one has to succeed. Start small, set small goals for yourself. This could range from waking up at a certain time to doing laundry once a week. Once your small goals are met you progressively increase it to bigger ones. The more you achieve, the more confidence you will have for yourself, and the more it will reflect in the way you talk and your attitude will change given time.

Although it may not seem like what I am telling you is related to what you're asking, but trust me on this. I, myself, grew up in a very strict family, my dad never approved anything that I did, which resulted in me being very shy at school and other social places. With time though, I have learned that everyone is shy to a certain degree and they get comfortable being in that box of theirs. It is very uncomfortable to move past that comfort line, but once you've done so, it gets easier and easier each time, thus expanding your comfort zone. As for your shyness, here are a few things I find that helps me to be more successful with others, and I hope it will help you.
