Im schizophrenia and take my meds now Im in management and nobody knows>
Of course the school was a huge sucess and helped prove that Down's syndrome children can learn and physically disabled children are normal.
Of course you know this.
But our society treats mental illness like Dawson did.
Hopefully people will realise that your sch (I can't spell it) is just a matter of chemical in-balance as is my diabetes or some-one with severe flu.
When you have the flu one feels one can not do the work but you CAN.
Millions of disabled children overcame the narrow attitude 1960s society imposed on them and you will too.
I, personally would rather employ some-one with a dozen mental illnesses than employ some-one who is racist, sexist, homophobic, CRUEL MEAN ETC. These truly are difficult things to over-come.
Go for it girl. By the time you are my age you'll wonder why you worried. Take Care.
People have very archaic ideas of what any mental illness really is. I wouldn't go around telling anyone, you don't have to tell anyone your personal business. If someone higher up finds out or suspects tell him yes you are, but you are in the management phase. Give him your psychiatrist name & number and say that if that higher up has any questions, please do not hesitate to call the number. After you leave the higher ups office, call your psychiatrist and explain briefly that he/she may receive a call re: your mental health.
******This happened to me, I'm bipolar. I was let go after 25 years because my company, the state government, was afraid I would hurt one of my co workers-see they knew what bipolar people are like. (ha!)
