Im on Zoloft for anxietyplease read
How do I go about getting new medicine for anxiety?
I am diagnosed with social anxiety and panic attacks. I was put on Zoloft 50 mgs by my doc about 5 months ago. My anxiety is still there and same with panic attacks. I THINK the Zoloft may even be increasing my anxiety, for lately it is out of control. A close family member gives me Xanax occasionally, and I take when needed. Such as when my anxiety gets bad when I have to go to the store or a social outting. AND it works wonders. It doesnot have to be xanax, I just DONT understand why I was put on Zoloft something i have to take everyday, and perfer not to do, rather then something that I can take when needed?
I am looking for something, not for depression for I know I AM NOT depressed and i do not want something I have to take everyday. Just when needed.
Answer:Stop taking the medication immediately. Go back to your doctor and tell him that you are having adverse reactions to the medication. I too was on Zoloft after my baby (he is now 4), but it gave me greater symptoms of depression/anxiety. If Xanax or Lorazepam work better for you, you can take those as needed and not every day.

GET OFF THOSE DRUGS!
It doesn't hurt to tell that to your doctor, he's there to help. Why not ask to be put on Xanax for a little bit to see how well it'd work for the long run? He's there to help you. But, if you don't want Xanax daily, try Lexapro. I've been on Zoloft for awhile now and it's working for me, but everyone is different.
Explain this to your Doc. My Husband has anxiety and occasionally he still has to do the Xanax. Only your doc would know what is best for you, but it's best to go on a daily med more for prevention. You may have to try out a few different ones, but one will work for you. I would avoid Paxl for personal reasons. Good luck hon!
just tell that to your doctor. i've been on like 6 different antidepressants and i hated zoloft the most out of all of them. i wouldn't recommend taking xanax if it's not prescribed by your doctor only because it can interfere with the medication you are already taking...it will also imbalance the chemicals in your brain. if you're willing to take the risk, i have found that marijuana calms me down a LOT and stabilizes my mood better than any other prescription medicine. good luck.
