Just by asking, it's clear you want to fix this. The sooner you start, the sooner you can fix yourself up. Talk to a doc and be honest (that's what your paying them for) and keep a journal--you can't lie to yourself :)

just say whats true or correct yourself when you lie
I do the same thing, 'cept for me, it's usually when I am trying to impress someone. My math teacher once said "If you tell the truth, then you don't have to remeber what you said". Say that to yourself!
