If you take an antidepressant like Paxil or Zoloft, what has been your experience
Do you really think that they have helped you? I take Paxil and I think it's doing me harm. I'm not any less depressed, I just feel like a just want to sit at home and feel more like a zombie. Could these pills be making things worse? I'd really like to get off of them and see if what happens. Trouble is, when I tell my doctor about taking me off, he refuses. Should I just do it on my own?
Answer:Neither one helped me. You can't just quit some medications.. you have to be weaned off of them. Different people have different reactions to Paxil or Zoloft. I knew one lady that never got out of bed while she was on Paxil. Her family was more worried about her while she was on the medication than when she wasn't. If your doctor refuses to take you off antidepressants, ask him to prescribe something else. If he refuses, consider getting a second opinion. Also, you should be going to some sort of counseling, and that helped me more than anything. But, again, I had to find the right doctor and counselor. The first doctor routinely did ECT on his patients, and before he could do something like that to me, I found a different doctor and within a few short weeks, was doing much better. Each doctor has his or her own methods and medications. How long have you been on Paxil or Zoloft, and are you going to counseling as well? It doesn't sound like you've just started taking them. Talk with your doctor and instead of just asking him to take you off of them, tell him why you want off of them and ask why he is refusing. If he can't give you a decent answer, get another opinion.
i had taken zoloft a while ago, and found great results, however after a year or so, it quit working. paxil did nothing for me..it usually takes 2 weeks to get the full affect.
They need to change your medicine. Go to your Doctor and ask for something that will not leave you feeling like a Zombie. I am on Celexa and it just leaves me feeling mellow. I do not worry about things I have no control over anymore.Paxil is obviously not the one for you, or the dosage needs to be lowered.
I used to take Zoloft and man i loved it (way too much ) sounds like your Doc was scared to give you the good stuff to me i got a presciption from 3 different Doctors so my advise change doctors
I have taken both. Depending on how long you have been on them for them to be effective. It can take 2 to 3 weeks for results to show. But the key, is get up and about and don't worry about them hurting you. Keep yourself busy, work in the yard, go for walks, or find a hobby. But the worst thing to do is sit around and feel like a zombie. You may feel that way, but actually you aren't. You may want to ask your doctor about the dosage amounts. They had to reduce my dosage due to my body weight.
If your doctor refuses, just find a doctor who agrees. If you don't want to go to that trouble, just take yourself off and stop going to your doctor. I did that. I was taking Remeron and Prozac. I didn't experience what you are experiencing, I was like depression on speed. My doc just kept upping my dosage, so I stopped taking them oneday and never saw the idiot again. You don't have to do everything your doctor tells you to do. That was a few years ago. I lived through it and I'm not taking any medication or depressed anymore.
