Iam worried about all the pills i am taking
very concerned got on anti depression pills, then anxiety pills now taking 2 vicoden a day that seems to take the depression away how bad off am i. can i stop this without a long drawn out drug progrm and group meetings. want to do this on my own. please help
Answer:its very very hard to get off of prescription pain meds. FOR GOD SAKES DON'T TRY TO QUIT COLD TURKEY THAT WILL ONLY MAKE YOU WORSE! and telling the doc may or may not be a good idea. he/she may cut you off all at once, or if you trust them, they might be able to prescribe something to help you quit, only you know your doctor. I know exactally how you feel! it is a nightmare. it becomes your whole life. its what I call my silent killer. but you just have to take it little by little, for me it became an hour by hour thing, you know how people tell you to take it one day at a time, well forget that!!! I'm telling you that it can get a hold on you quicker than you think! it can littlerally rule your life. if you just tell yourself OK, I am going to wait as long as I can before I take another pill, then actually do it, it will get easier. yes you are going to give in once in a while, but don't get discouraged. then if you have to, only take half of a pill, just enough to take the edge off. anti anxiety meds can help with the withdraw, but they too can become a real problem, so be very careful and only take them if you absolutely need too!!! when that "wave" hits you, (and I am sure you know what I mean) try to talk yourself through it, get up and do something, you might get the shakes, or even get sick but IT WILL PASS! I promise. just be strong and fight your way through it. tell yourself that over and over and try to have faith in yourself. I know its hard. believe me I know, I feel for you right now. I am being sincere. I know all too well. please don't feel like you are alone. I will pray for you, you can do it!!! PEOPLE SHE NEED ANSWERS! EASY FOR THEM TO SAY JUST QUIT! , she needs advise from people who are or have gone through this. PLEASE LISTEN TO ME OR DAVE S. p.s. know someone who was up to 10+ a day, is now getting much better. taking FAR less than that and did it on her own ;) ;)
