I worry far too much

I worry far too much and it is stopping me from getting on with things. I'm not depressed, just generally anxious. I think my blood pressure is higher than it's ever been and this is making me worry more. I have also developed some pure o OCD like symptoms and this is worrying me as well. Are there any herbs I can take to reduce my worrying? Or should I see a doctor and get anti-depressants, but like i said i'm not depressed.

Answer:

It seems as if you are suffering from stress which will only get worse unless you try to deal with it. Ask yourself what are you getting out of all the worry is it making things easier for you, certain things happen whether we worry or not. Relax and try to take what is stressing you up out of your life, walk the dog or go to the gym enjoy life more and take everything as it comes without worrying what may happen. You cannot change all things in your life, like work etc but you can alter what you do in your spare time, even listening to relaxing music in a dark room can help you. Good luck to you hope you get yourself sorted, it is the pace of modern living.

See a doctor
You should probably speak to a Doctor anyway, whether it's to ask for anti-depressants or not. If you haven't always been like this then there might be a trigger that needs to be addressed. It is possible to have anxiety for no reason, you don't need to be depressed or even worried about anything. You do say though that your worried about your blood pressure and this is probably triggering your anxiety. Speak to a professional and they'll make sure your physical health is ok and then perhaps that will ease your anxiousness.
xanax. or have a drink. sit down and get some of these worries off your chest with a friend. dot go the anti depressant route. Meditate or something. it really works. calms the mind and helps me sleep
You should see a psychiatrist who can prescribe medication designed specifically for your issues. There are meds for OCD as well as anti-anxiety medication. Although some herbal remedies may help, they really can't take the place of the medications available today.
A therapist is a good idea...especially if this is starting to interfere with your ability to function as you normally do. One good piece of advice I can give you is " Face your fear and they will disappear." Anxiety is just fear over certain situations. Our imagination can make these fears appear to be larger and more threatening than they are in real life. Facing the fear puts it into perspective. The truth will over come the lie.
You're worried about being worried also ... don't worry about things that have not yet happened, don't worry about things you have no control over, and instead of looking at the problem, look at finding solutions for the problem ... by finding solutions, it will keep your mind off worrying - worrying never solved anything and never will - change your mind set. The minute you feel yourself worrying, replace it with a potential solution.
Try SAM-e. You should be able to get it at wal-mart. Try rhubarb & strawberry pie or bananas to lower your blood pressure.
Call your local mental health center and ask to see a counselor. I suggest you try bio-feedback. It works for many people.
