Is this what has been making me crazy? I (in the last 7or so years) I have been told I was bi-polar, suffering from depression, ADHD,ADD. and doctors have put me on things from Prozac,Cymbalta, Wellbutrin, Equetrol, etc....I'm wondering if my thyroid med will eventually let me quit taking Celexa and let me function and feel normal. P.S. I think I am starting menopause also.(sucks to be me....sounds like I don't have a chance to feel "normal" again)

Answer:

Yes, the thyroid problem may have caused many of your other problems. The medication may or may not help with those problems. I do know that many who have depression from being hypothyroid feel better on a T4/T3 thyroid medication like Armour.

The best advice I can give you is to learn as much as you can about hypothyroidism. Test in the morning only and try to gt the morning TSH around 1.0. If you don't feel well after 6 months at about once, try a med like Armour thyroid getting the free t4 and free t3 high in range.

Sure, you have a chance to feel normal again. Just do a lot of research. There are many great sites on the internet. I'll put some links below. A good thyroid book is THyroid Power

Yes, now take your crazy pills.
Could be. Low thyroid hormone will cause symptoms of depression, such as fatigue, moodiness, lack of energy, crying spells, etc.

In many cases, before a shrink diagnosis someone with depression or bipolar, the shrink usually has thyroid tests done on the patient. Because low thyroid is alot easier to treat than depression.

This might be the answer to your prayers!

Yes, I've been diagnosed with it last year and the same happpened to me. But once you help your hypothyroid get to normal, you will feel much better again. Trust me, I've been through the depression this time last year and was only on Lexapro for 6 months to help me while the thyroid was getting adjusted with the meds to help it back to normal.
