I seem to be on some sort of cycle, but things get me in s state far too easily from my view, think its down to stuff thats happened to me. Been on antidepressants varous times, but docs just prescribe drugs, never told them anything except circumstances. But I'm older now, thinking the roots of why are deeper, but scared to pursue cos I know the can of worms could consume me. Plus, think also I am just being weak and pathetic. Confident when happy, but a puddle of a wreck when the grey clouds hang over. Feel I should be stronger.

Answer:

if you feel that you need to see a therapist then i think you should go. if you have insurance and your doc writes you a Rx or referral to go to one then i think your insurance will cover part of it if not all of it. i think after you start going and get everything off your chest youll start to feel better. therapist probably have many different exercises to help you get out of your cycles and face your problems so that you can feel happy and good about yourself all the time. youre not being stupid. there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to take care of yourself and wanting to be happy and confident.

Meds, as you know, can dull your symptoms--but therapy--getting to the root of your problems--is what will cure you. It is not weak or pathetic to seek help--for that matter, it is courageous. Therapists are there to help you from being consumed by the can of worms.
