I just got 5 fillings doneis this really bad
If someone is a dentist can you tell me how common it is to get 5+ cavities in one visit? how bad is it? do dentists see this on a daily basis?
Answer:How old are you? Do you regularly see a dentist? If not, then there's the cumulative affect where they've built up over a period of time. Also, you didn't say whether they were surface cavities or deep ones. Flossing and proper brushing are important of course. If you think you're not doing a good job, there are disclosing tablets you can buy (or maybe get from your dentist). After you brush your teeth you chew on one and anywhere you didn't brush properly and left tartar behind there will be a reddish stain. You simply brush again to remove the color. Crest has a mouthwash out now that is supposed to be good for 12 hours.
If you consume a lot of sugary drinks, you're compounding your problem. You can brush after every meal, but if you're drinking sodas inbetween, then you're just leaving the sugary deposits on the teeth.
If you grew up or live where there is well water, you may not be getting the fluoride you need for strong, healthy teeth. Your dentist can give you a fluoride treatment at the time of your appointment to help you.
Some people just seem prone to cavities. I didn't have my first one until I was 15 and now at 56 I still only have 7. I brush and floss, but I'm not fanatical about it. My husband is the opposite--always with the toothbrush, etc. and he has lots of cavities.
