I have started taking Prozac Feel terrible Please Help
Hi,
I have started taking Prozac , for depression and OCD. It is nearing the fourth week. I don`t really have any side-effects, however I feel a lot worse, and the OCD is much worse. I lay in bed for like an hour before I can get out. I have taken Zoloft before, which worked, but the weight gain was bad. I really want it to work, as I have lost 11 months of my life to this illness.
So basically, my symptoms have worsened, and I feel very shaky. Now, I know that SSRIs tend to first make you feel worse at onset and then things get better.(I had that with Zoloft)
Anyone have a similar experience, and how long does it take?
I am on 40mg and nearly 4 weeks into treatment. I know SSRIs are, so I don`t need an answer how they work or what they do, I just need experiences, and whether people have also felt like this and then things got better?
Please help!!
Answer:Medications affect us differently. I have been taking prozac for fifteen years, I take 20mg in the am and 20mg in the pm. Even over this long period of time it works for me. But everyone is different. I am sorry you are having such a hard time finding the right med. I struggled for about a year before I got level on prozac. There are other antidepressents that work well. One you might ask about is Celexa, it doesn't have that many side affects and it kind of makes you energetic. Then there's Anafrinil for OCD. I have clients that take that and are successful. You need to be careful though, some OCD medications can make you manic if you are taking too much. As for the dose you are taking of prozac, maybe its too high or not high enough. Talk to your doctor.
Start by reading this site while it's early and then take your own conclusions. Do not stop taking prozac immediately, please!
