I was put on Wellbutrin XL awhile back while I had an eating disorder as well. For me it didn't do anything, if it did it just made my depression worse. But every drug works differently on different people, for some it may work great, others it may not work at all, and then again for others it might just make things worse. Since everyone has a unique body of their own it is unpredictable how a drug will effect you until it has been tried. My suggestion would be to take what the doctor gives you, and if you notice that it is making things worse or that it isn't doing a thing for you, make sure to tell your doctor right away so they can take you off of it.
