Here's a great remedy for making your packs rock hard. Every night after I take a shower, I grab a fluffy pillow and put it on the ground. If you sit on with with your butt on the bottom half, then start doing regular sit ups on it, be sure to go all the way back until your head is almost on the ground. This is more efficient than normal sit ups because more weight has to be supported. I do 100 consecutive sit ups this way, then most on to leg lifts.

You can place your hands under your butt at first, but if you keep your arms across your chest, it is more effective. I place my feet about an inch above the ground, count a full ten seconds, then after that ten I repeat the process with my feet a foot off the ground. After that, I do the same at 2 feet off the ground. Then I go back down to an inch and start all over again. If you can do this, that's a full minute of leg lifts getting progressively harder. Try spreading your legs out about 2-3 feet for en ever tougher exercise.

The last part is the crunches. I keep my hands behind my head, my legs staight up with my feet higher off the ground than my knees, and touch my elbows to my knees. Do 50 of these and you'll be set. Do all of this within about 5 minutes every night and you will see great results in about 3 months. Twice a week (on work out nights) I do 3 sets of 100 sit ups, 3 one minute leg lifts, and 2 sets of 50 crunches.
