Will weight-lifting/body-building affect my height/growth rate

health advisory Hospital Mens Health 2007-11-15 5:39:23

if i will lift heavy stuff to build my body, will it decrease the speed of my growth? my height?

Answer:

Not at all...height is controlled by the pituitary gland. It is not effected by exercise at all. Lift what you want, but do be careful if you are under 18. Your joints are still forming and extreme lifting can cause problems down the line. Just use your head and stretch after working out.

YES DEFINITELY ,THOUGH YOUR AGE IS NOT SPECIFIED EXCESSIVE LIFTING OF HEAVY WEIGHTS WILL SURELY RETARD THE BODY HEIGHT GROWTH.

IT IS THUS ADVISABLE TO GO FOR MUSCLE BUILDING ONLY AFTER YOU ARE OF SATISFACTORY HEOGHT OR HAVE CROSSED THE AGE OF GROWING WHICH IS AROUND 21-22(MAX.) FOR MALES

yes it will if you are 16 and under. it could deform your bone structure because your body is not quite finished growing until you are 16. be careful... think of long term rather that short term.
no, it is a wrong concept
kateek is 100% right u should go 4 weight lifting after 19/20

thats best time for it ;)
