Answer:hernias are pretty easily detected- the dr. most likely has the diagnosis correct. Depending on the location, severity, size of the hernias- surgery may be necessry to repair. Often, if there is no discomfort and there is no immediate damage/concern, they will leave the hernias alone and see what happens. However, if there is pain/discomfort or the hernias are cutting off circulation/blood supply, they will want to do the surgery now rather than later.
