Bravo! I never thought I'd hear someone express the right sentiment about aftershave and cologne. So many telegraph their presence so broadly that you can smell it even outdoors long after they've passed by. Personal scent should be an intimate secret shared only with those privileged enough to be held in your arms.

My favorite is Gilette gel, sparingly applied.

I actually use a pre shave lotion called 'Lectric Shave' I shave with a norelco twin blade shaver and this gives me the closest shave and has a nice scent. After I shave I wash up and use either 1)braun after shave lotion, or 2) plain 70% rubbing alcohol and coca butter lotion (not mixed one and then the other). Usually I use the rubbing alcohol bc it's odorless and I'm planning on wearing Cologne and the lotion for moisture. Plus the coca butter helps tone the skin from any marks/cuts from shaving.
