On average I get 7 to 7 and a ahalf hours a sleep on a anormal day.

For a 14 year old boy, 7 is a little too small. You have to remember that you toss and turn in your sleep, that results in loss of sleep. So, at your age, your still young you should try to get as much sleep as possible, because until u become a soft-more in high school, 7 or less hours of sleep is not unusual.


Your good, 8 hours is the norm. I am 16 and I am lucky to get 4 hours a night, if your worried about insomnia, that is what I have, then talk to your doctor, but seven to seven and one half hours is good.

It's difficult to throw out a minimum amount of sleep, many people will say 8, and while that may be a good general guidline, it's not necessarily law.

Over Spring Break or whenever you don't have school, go to sleep at a reasonable hour and don't set an alarm. Your body should stay asleep and try to catch up on lost REM sleep. Do this for a few days and write down what time you wake up. Then start setting your alarm for the average wake-up time, when you begin to wake up about 5 - 10 minutes or earlier before that alarm you'll know you've got no sleep debt.

If you've done this, you can use the time you went to sleep and the time your body woke up to calculate the ideal amount of sleep you need if you haven't been missing any.


It is very difficult to say how much an individual should sleep but remember that your growth occurs while you are sleeping and lack of sleep can stunt growth and recovery from illness and or injury.Try to get more sleep but don't think about it too much,it can defeat the object.
