Weight Lifting
Im a Freshman in High School just starting to lift; Im 5'6, 136 lbs. What should I be able to bench and squat?
Answer:Whatever you feel comfertable with..
I am 13, 5'9" and 132, and I usually bench like 60-65. But I am been benching for like a year.
I suggest start with like 40 or so, and then if that's too light, go heavier next time.
But never, do more than you are comfertable with, even if your friends can lift more.
you should be able to bench at least 100 lbs and squat probably 75... work your way up to it...
It dosent matter what your at now, when i was a freshman i was 6'2 130 with bench or 65 and squat of about 100 but now im a junior with bench of 265 and squat of 330. its just important to work out at least 4 times a week eat a lot sleep at least 8 hrs a night and push yourslef during every workout.
try to bech aroud your weight im a freshman in high school to but im a little bigger then you i am 5 59 170 and i bench 185 like 10 reps so try to get to 140 10 times it would be nice
i'm a sophmore, 5'3", 110 lbs
my max bench is 110 lbs,
I do 10 reps of 95
my max squat is 285 lbs,
i do 10 reps of 230 lbs
and i do 10 reps of cleans at 95
And don't worry about how much you can lift. its more about working hard and pushing yourself. even if you start out weak, you will get stronger. if you're self conscious, try using the machines so people can't see how much you are lifting. This is what i started out doing.
