Question on Effexor XR 225mg side effects
This medication is really interfering with my sex life. It is hard to maintain an erection and almost impossible to achieve orgasm, either by myself or with my (very understanding) partner.
I'm a 30 year old male.
Anyone else suffered this?
Anyone found a way around it?
Answer:Well, I am not a male, But I had to take Effexor for severe depression and it did effect my sex life. Also I had insomnia so I had to take a sleeping med. When I asked my Doctor about it. He asked how is the Effexor helping with the Depression. It worked great. So he asked do you want to feel better most of the time or just a few minutes a sexual pleasure. Well, I chose to wait it out. Because I function much better . I also had counseling and eventually went off the medication that was three years ago. So I guess you just have a choice to make.
It can be a side effect. Switch medications or ask your doctor about Viagra or Cialis.
It is a common side effect from most antidepressant medications. Speak with your doctor about it. He will probably put you on a different medication which will not interfere with your sex life. Remember however, that all medications do have other side effects. Ask your MD or your Pharmacist what to look out for.
