Maybe because we such an incohesive race, that most of what we do is simply inefficient and the subconcious 'says' "don't give me any more to process, it isn't going anywhere". How does it correlate with IQ?

there are lots of potential reasons, the one i like the best is that human brain capacity has been systematically suppressed over thousands of years in order to keep the human race dossile and easy to control.

aldous huxley also explains humans' failure to realize their full brain capacity very well- he says that the human mind can perceive all things at all times in places in the universe, but in order to survive in the third dimensional, material plane- the brain must filter out all of this information, and only allow the perceptions that human needs to survive.
