scabs = healing cuts or grazes where blood has dried & hardened over wound

Answers:

I think its not the scab that causes the itching. The activities underneath the scab which undergoes repair and healing process release certain substances or chemicals that excite the nerves that make you itch.

Don't be annoyed. It is a good news as itching is a sign that your body is doing its job defending itself.

because it is dry and is pulling away from the healthy skin
dunno but they taste delicious!
they itch because its begging you to peel it off.
bacteria causes itchiness
Scabs itch because it's the healing process
because the devil is in you

ps in my country i am a very good doctor

they call me manjula the spirit healer

because all the cells are jumping about underneath it as part of the healing process - it's very annoying though as one always wants to peel them off at this poing and then it has to all start healing again - a nasty cycle! I've had scabs on my ankle for 23 years and I can't get them to heal because i scratch them off in my sleep without realising i've done it!
itchy scabs indicate that the sore it healing
It is part of the healing process air skin contraction.
