If nano technology reaches a stage where quantum size computers could mimic the functions of the human brain cell, would you ever consider becoming a "cyborg" of sorts? In other words you would retain all your humanity but have computers in your brain making you a super genious.

In a seperate question as a followup to the last, would you consider the addition of cell sized nano bots that could mimic white blood cells assuring that you would never get sick in any way and possibly extening your life expectancy to 130 years or more?

In a seperate question as a followup to the last, would you ever concider cybernetic body parts to prolong your life expectancy to 200 years or more?

Well this is just a question I want to ask to have fun with. I am using it for a "project" of mine. :-)

Answers:

Of course, why wouldn't I? Especially if, as in your question, I retain all of my humanity. I don't think it would be any different than augmenting our natural bodies in any other way, eg through prosthetics, or medicines, or other implants.

I think I would wait until someone else had those nanobot blood cells to see if they work. That rather sounds like something that could horribly wrong. The programming required for white blood cells in order for them to recognize all of my cells and leave them alone but attack invaders would be enormous, and very prone to error.

And in the second followup question, sure I would, as long as I would still retain my humanity. The important issue, I think, is that I would have control over the implants, and they could never take control of me. Also, it'd be nice if they weren't obviously cybernetic parts, if they at least looked somewhat natural, cause while I'd gladly take the advantages of cybernetics, I don't want to end up looking like one of Star Trek's Borg.
