Would you consent to the operation

health advisory Hospital Doctor Yu 2007-11-8 19:09:45

Without your kidney as a transplant, someone close to you will die within 1 month. The odds that you will survive the operation are only 50%, but should you survive you would be certain of a normal life expectancy.

Answers:

If this was someone in my family.i would do it. I would be scared s-itless.but,i would do it! If they were not in my family, to be honest, I don't know if i would or not.

Yep!! If my chance of survival is 50% and there's is 0, I would do it.
Of course I'd do it. I'd put it in God's hands.
If someone I really love needed my kidney and I was compatible I would consent to the operation. I think that it would be a wonderfull thing to be able to save someones life like that and give them a second chance at life, I would like someone else to do the same for me if I ever needed a kidney transplant.

If you are in this situation and don't know what to do I really think you should think it over a lot and look in your heart to see the answer within you, only you can make a decition as important as this one.

I would like to say I would do it, but if it meant the possibility of leaving my son motherless or taking my chances of having more children, I don't know. the immediate family comes first. If it were my son, which he would have ot be an adult, I am sure, to be able to take my kidney, definitely. Or if when I am a grandma, it is my daughter-in-law, possibly. But right now, no.
i would definitely do it, saving someone close to me, i wouldn't even have to think twice
Hello, this is in regards to another question I had answered for you. You mentioned that you do not know of any credit cards that offer cash back besides Discover. Discover is a good card but you are right, it is not accepted everywhere. I then switched to Chase Visa card. It's called the Cash Plus card and gives you 1% back on regular purchases and 3% back on gas! Thats good, considering how high gas prices are now. Hope that helps, you should be able to get onto chase.com and look at their card selection.
This is a no brainer~ of course I would. I would do it for a stranger. I have a deep need to make a difference in someone's life. Am I pathetic or what?
Having been involved with at least 100 kidney transplant operations, I assure everyone that the survival rate for a kidney donor is approaching 100%. I have never seen someone die from this operation. I suspect the question really isn't supopsed to be medically directed, but is a matter of ethics and morals. Personally, I wouldn't do it and I would never expect anyone to do it for me. The odds just don't make sense. Perhaps if you were elderly and it was your spouse that you wouldn't want to live without. well that might be another story.
