However, the main purpose of stem cell research is to grow tissue/organs out of single cells. Of course, monkey DNA differs from ours enough to void such research. They're looking for what triggers cell specialization into certain organs. If they can do that, then they might be able to take a cell from your body and grow you a new liver to replace your failing one.

Evolutionarily related, sure.

But the problem is, a monkey stem cell can only be used to create monkey cells.

The reason human stem cells are useful is that they are used to create human cells, and so are thought to be able to be used in repairing the body human body. Monkey cells wouldn't be of much help in that area.

why not use embryos, they arn't being used for anything else. All you are talking about is a mass of cells. Maybe that sounds harsh because they "have potential", but in all actuality due to not being implanted they do not. There are many similarities to apes. However if we were able to use there stem cells then don't you think we would be able to use there bone marrow for transplant, there blood for transfusion and so on. Also, if we were able to use there stem cells cause we are so closely related, then ask your self this, are they so much less importaint than us that it is okay to kill the potential that there stem cells may have?
