Patient-nurse/doctor relationships.
Answers:because, although they are sedated, a part of their brain still is receiving and processing inputs.
it isnt
You need to keep them somewhat alert so they don't freak out when they wake up.
Hearing is the last to go. Even if the patient isn't awake they can hear what you say. It is important that you do not discuss things in front of the patient you would't want them to hear if they were awake
Because they can still hear and also to find out if the sedation is wearing off.
In dentistry we communciate with the patient's to evaluate their responses. When just providing light sedation, we want a patient to be fully in control of their reflexes and to be able to respond. Even sedated a patient should be responsive even though they may not remember what is going on. If we have a patient that is nonresponsive under light sedation we could have a problem and need to attend to that before continuing with our dental procedures.
